"Gloria sees things that others don't." - Visionary Magazine
Gloria is a large woman with an even larger optimism. She loves selling things, so she is a natural as VP of Marketing.
"I could sell ice cubes to an Eskimo," she jokingly asserts, and it's not far from the truth. In 1998 she led a campaign to trade frozen breadsticks to a Canadian firm in exchange for beaver-lined baseball caps.
It was a coup for the winter league, and earned her mention at the company's picnic later that year.
"I was just doing my job," she later explained. "The Canadians needed bread. We needed the fur. Anyone in my position would have done the same thing."
Perhaps.
Bread ain't ice cubes, but then the Canadians aren't Eskimos, either.

Not all of them, anyway.

I'm almost out of breath from the excitement of today's efforts. My staff has worked so hard to prepare the quarterly ads, and I firmly believe we shall see positive results by next spring. The shipping department needed help stacking some especially heavy crates on the upper shelves, so I offered my assistance. This took over an hour.
I tried to call my fiance all today, but there was no answer. I'm sure he is simply out of cell range. He needs a new cell phone, so maybe I'll get him one for his birthday next month.
